And the desert called, is an ongoing series about the quality of geographical space and introspection told through the landscapes of  New Mexico, the people I've met on my visits to the state and excerpts from my personal journals I've kept while there.

In the desert, I can never grasp how far it is, out there to where my eyes lay.
A days walk? A half a days walk?
How many rests would I have to take?
What would it be like to stare back into the distance, to this very place I'm sitting now.

I don't want to spoil you with my glances.
Walking, head down, through the low thirsty grasses
I try to paint you in the way I remember, instead.
